Lumberjack or tapper in Stardew Valley
Last updated:
You need to choose either lumberjack or tapper when you reach level 10 on your foraging (forester) skill. Which profession is better?
Lumberjack vs tapper
Your level 5 choice, forester :
- Wood worth 50% more
Level 10 choices :
- Lumberjack - trees have a chance to drop hardwood
- Tapper - syrups worth 25% more
Which is better?
I have a bit of a hard time with the tapper profession. The problem is that it has no synergy at all with the level 5 forester choice; if you want to produce a lot of syrups for profit, you need to stop chopping your trees down and to install tappers on them.
On the other hand, lumberjack still allows to chop down a lot of trees and simply rewards you with more (better) wood. 75% of the normal trees that you cut down will drop a piece of hardwood, which is a key element for crafting equipment and buildings.
If you're going with the wood path earlier in the game, lumberjack is the next logical pick.
Better choice: lumberjack.
