Crops in Dawn of Man
Last updated:
Starting at the Neolithic Age, agriculture and crops became an important part of the village's diet.
Do not hesitate to produce large fields and place them outside your defensive pallissades. You do not need tools or seeds for planting, but a sickle is needed for harvesting.
Cereals
The cereals are planted in the spring and harvested in the fall. Basically, they all produce the same thing, 1 grain and 1 straw per plant. Barley seems by far the best cereal, followed by emmer and rye.
- Emmer - additional cereal (25%)
- Einkorn - resists diseases (25%)
- Barley - extra straw (50%)
- Rye - additional cereal (15%) and disease-resistant (15%)
Pulses
Pulses are planted during the winter and harvested in summer. They don't conserve as well and do not give straw, but the fact that they are planted and harvested in different seasons help avoid extreme peaks of workloads. All four options are identical.
- Bitter vetch
- Chickpeas
- Lentils
- Peas
Suggestion: 75% cereals fields (barley in priority) and 25% pulses fields, just to help balance the workload.
